How To Use Magic Design AI Tool In Canva

Hey, it's your Canva Geek Pam here. I'm going to walk you through Canva's Magic Design AI Tool. But first, what is Magic Design? Well, I'll let Canva tell us about it first- this video they did when they released all this MAGIC in Canva. I fell in love the first time I tried it, so I feel this is a big PLUS for Canva because most people are not designers and need help. Thank you, Canva, for creating Magic Design.

What is Magic Design?

If you are unable to watch the video at the moment, no worries; I will walk you through it. So, what’s the scoop on Magic Design? Well, it's this super cool AI tool that's about to take your design game from zero to hero. Imagine this: You’ve got an image, or maybe just a spark of an idea, and you need some graphics to bring it to life. That's where Magic Design swoops in. When I first started this, I was mind blown (like that cute emoji🤯), and I was WTF, this is so freaking amazing. Ok, I might have said another word than “freaking” but I was impressed!

How Does Magic Design Work?

Honestly, it’s like having a personal graphic designer in your pocket. You upload an image or describe your idea in a few words, and—voilà—it gets to work, churning out relevant and eye-catching images for you. It does all the work for you—first thing first- open CANVA. Now, if you don't have CANVA PRO, I highly suggest and here is my link to try it for free for 30 days.

Are you ready…

Go to the Create a Design’ button on the desktop (which I use Canva primarily on) in the right-hand upper corner- purple box. If you want an Instagram image, click that, or if you want a YouTube Thumbnail, click on that, or you can even set your dimensions.
On the search bar, describe what you’d like to create.
Click Media to add images (you don't have to unless you have them). Select an image from your Uploads. You may also click Choose Files if you’d like to upload a new image from your device. Or let Canva insert the images, and you can go back and change them out, easy peasy.
Click See results.

Magic Design will give you eight different designs to pick from. So please choose the one that reflects your brand niche, or what I do is pick the one that catches my eye. Because if it catches my eye, I hope it will catch yours too!

If you don't have an image to use, then no worries- describe what you want and Canva will produce and give you image ideas. Sometimes, they are great, but then there are times that Canva puts an image in there that makes no sense. The best part is that you can search in Canva and grab the best image for you.

Watching the Magic Happen

Now, let’s hit the design with a sprinkle of brand personality. We'll sift through the options, play the matchmaker, and pick the one that screams, “This is it!”. But oh, wait a minute—if the image isn’t vibing, it's no biggie. We can swap it out. This is fun to watch the process, and having different choices is always a bonus. I might use a couple of designs for something else.

Tweaking to Perfection

Sometimes, we hit the jackpot on the first try; other times, we must change things. A little move here, a resize there, and voilà! If an image crashes the party and it’s not our style, you can crop it out or replace it faster than you can say I don't like this! I love that they give eight different versions, and we can pick the one we like the most!

The Magic of Efficiency

Time to wrap it up! With a few clicks, make it yours, but do you know what the real magic is? We didn’t lose any sleep over font choices or color schemes. Magic Design’s got our back, making sure everything looks on point. I didn't have to overthink it, I just let Canva do its magic and BAM I have cool designs now.
